hanged himself, police confirmed yesterday.

Nkosana Ndlovu (24), of Feppie Ndlovu’s homestead under Chief Wasi, Madabe area in Mangwe District, was recently found by his mother Feppie Ndlovu hanging from a roof truss in a storeroom.

Matabeleland South acting provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Christopher Ngwenya said Ndlovu had been ill for some time and was reported to have constantly complained that he could not bear living with HIV.

He said on the day he died, his mother left for the fields in the morning and found him dead upon her return in the evening.

“Ndlovu’s mother left the homestead at about 11am and proceeded to the fields leaving him alone at home. Upon returning she found him hanging from a roof truss in a storeroom and she reported the matter,” said Ass Insp Ngwenya.

In another incident a 13-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging after complaining to her siblings that her grandmother was not giving her enough food.

The deceased juvenile was from Mayobodo under Headman Matenga in  Chief Bango’s area.

Matabeleland South acting provincial police spokesperson Asst Insp Ngwenya said the juvenile used a wire to hang herself while she was herding donkeys with her two siblings.

“The juvenile was herding donkeys with her two sisters, one aged six and the other eight, when she started complaining that she was not being given enough food at home. She told them that she was willing to commit suicide by hanging herself with a wire that she was holding,” he said.

Asst Insp Ngwenya said the juvenile then left her siblings and went into the bush. They realised that she had gone for long and decided to report the matter to their grandmother.
