SATURDAY marked a memorable night for party-goers who flocked to the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo’s grand finale, the “Tourism Night Concert,” an event that did not disappoint.
Organisers often schedule the headlining acts for the late hours, when the audience is shrouded in darkness, but the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) ensured that this event would not follow that predictable pattern.
Taking place within the vibrant atmosphere of Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre’s Hall 2, the evening featured a line-up of local talent complementing the headliner, South Africa’s Master KG.
Anticipation had been building for this event, and rightfully so, as it has cemented its place as a significant highlight on the showbiz calendar. Such fervour is characteristic of the concert, which has previously featured renowned artists like the late Costa Tich, Big Zulu, and Lwah Ndlunkulu.
With a few minor hiccups aside, the show delivered on its promise of entertainment, with Master KG taking the stage before midnight. The Wanitwa Mos hit-maker entered to an enthusiastic reception from a packed venue, undeterred by looming thunderstorms.
Master KG, famous for “Di boya Limpopo,” quickly won over the audience. Prior to his performance, the crowd had been warmed up by UK-bound Jeys Marabini, DJ Sida, DJ Khumz, Kinah The Music, and Thandy Dhlana. Radio personalities DJ Kaybee and Donna N guided the proceedings.
This year’s edition brought a fresh twist with the inclusion of rhumba artist and dancer Godolude, who joined a stellar lineup including Sandra Ndebele, Ex Q, Mawiza, Noluntu J, Msiz’Kay, Mzistozz, Mzoe7, LaDee, DJ Euge, and DJ Nospa.
The concert served as the perfect conclusion to Africa’s premier tourism and business extravaganza. Fun-loving attendees danced the night away, and, notably, the event saw no incidents of violence or unruly behaviour. It was an evening that lived up to the buzz and left a lasting mark on those who attended. —@MbuleloMpofu
