THE Hockey Association of Zimbabwe (HAZ) are hosting the inaugural International Age Group Series between Zimbabwe and Zambia at the St John’s Educational Trust Astro Turf.

The series will run from August 8 to 10, and is aimed at hockey development from Under-13 to Under-16, in both the boys’ and girls’ categories.

HAZ board member, Cliff Kaseke, said the series was the first of its kind as they plan to stage it annually.

“It’s a hockey development tournament involving junior teams. We will see if we can do this annually,” he said.

Kaseke urged all participating teams to be well prepared.

“This is a very tight schedule of games and managers should ensure that teams arrive on time and are warmed up before entering the turf for the start of games.

“This is a huge step for hockey development in Zimbabwe.”

Kaseke said the Zimbabwe Under-U18 A and B, Under-16A and B, and the Under-13A and B boys’ and girls’ teams will be in action against their Zambian counterparts in the tournament.
