A HARARE couple, which is staying on the streets, is seeking assistance.
Their situation is more severe for Judith Maphosa, 55, who is mentally unstable and has to take medication every day.
But, her husband, Zachariah Kahonde, 85, is unable to provide a home for them.
The couple is currently staying in a plastic shack, along Seke Road.
They survive on handouts from well-wishers and are not in good health.
“We have been staying here since August after we were forced to move from the place we were staying.
“My wife is mentally unstable and she needs special attention.
“But, l am unable to assist her as l am also struggling.
“I am kindly asking for assistance from well-wishers.
“Any type of assistance, be it food, clothes and shelter would be appreciated,” said Kahonde.
He said they do not have any relatives to help them, as Maphosa is an orphan.
“I picked up Judith from Mbare and started staying with her in 1985.
“We do not have children because of her mental state, so it’s just the two of us. Most of the time, we go hungry for days because no one wants to employ an 85-year-old man,” he said.
