A BULAWAYO man’s walk home turned into a nightmare when he was allegedly bundled into a Honda Fit by two men, who robbed him at knifepoint.

Raphael Chiwande (23) of Pelandaba suburb and Thembelihle Sibanda (22) of Iminyela appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Archie Wochiwunga facing robbery charges. The pair was remanded in custody to August 19 for trial.

Prosecutor Mr Tafara Dzimbanhete told the court that the incident happened on 29 June 2025, at around 9PM.

Meluleki Ngwenya (31) was walking along B. Burombo Road in Njube when a Honda Fit pulled up next to him. The two accused reportedly forced him into the vehicle.

“While inside the Honda Fit, one of the accused produced a knife and pointed it at the complainant’s back, demanding cash and valuables,” said Mr Dzimbanhete.

Terrified, Ngwenya handed over his wallet containing US$45, a driver’s licence, and a Samsung A33 cellphone.

After the robbery, the suspects allegedly shoved him out of the moving vehicle and sped off.

The stolen goods were valued at US$165, and police recovered US$120 during investigations.
