HONDE Valley-based organisation, Christ in Action Reaching Everyone (CARE), is working towards creating awareness on important issues such as HIV/AIDS, gender-based violence and child marriages.
The organisation believes that through educating the youth and empowering them with life skills, they can break the cycle of poverty and contribute to a better future for everyone in their community.
CARE is calling on individuals and companies willing to offer assistance in any form to come forward and help it achieve its goals of fighting poverty and empowering the youth in Zimbabwe.
The organisation has donated school uniforms to students at five schools in Honde Valley.
CARE director, Reverend Grace Mazhandu, said their objective was to help cushion poverty-stricken people in the community.
“We help people from different backgrounds by enrolling them in projects such as sewing and cooking, among others.
“We advise and teach girls not to rely on older men for money in exchange for sex as they risk contracting STIs,” she said.
