With preparations for the main event in Harare at an advanced stage, the Zimbabwe Defence Forces will today begin its Community Assistance Week by providing free medical care to people in Mashonaland Central province.
In interview yesterday, Harare Metropolitan Province, Provincial Administrator Mr Alfred Tome, said families of provincial heroes in Harare would conduct a special ceremony this year at the provincial shrine.
“We encourage all the people to come in large numbers and show our solidarity and cherish our sovereignty. We want to show the world that sanctions or no sanctions we can go on as a brave and revolutionary State.”
Mr Tome said surviving families of provincial heroes interred at the provincial shrine in Harare would have a special event to lay wreaths at the graves of their loved ones.
Meanwhile, the ZDF will provide free medical care, including eye cataract operations in Mashonaland Central as part of their social responsibility programme.
“The Community Assistance Week, a ZDF social responsibility programme, this year provides medical outreach in Mashonaland Central Province. Eye cataract surgery will be conducted at Mt Darwin Hospital from 3 to 4 August,” reads a statement from ZDF. “Other medical conditions will be treated for free at Mukumbura, Kaitano, Kamutsenzere and Kaitano Clinics and Marongwe Primary School from the 6th of August.”
