‘Hooker’ in court for causing damage to property

A SUSPECTED prostitute has been arrested in Bulawayo for damaging a shop window in a fight with a client. Sihlanguli Ncube, 23, appeared before Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze charged with negligently causing damage to property.

She pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to today for sentencing.

Ncube told the court that she was coming from a night club when a man started assaulting her friend.

“Your Worship our friend was being attacked so we had to help her. We were afraid she was going to get hurt while we watched helplessly so l decided to pick up a stone and hit her attacker but l missed my target,” said Ncube.

Prosecuting, Nkathazo Dlodlo told the court that on Tuesday at around 3AM, Ncube and her unnamed friends were coming from a city night club.

The court heard that when they got near DHL that is situated along Joshua Nkomo Street and 9th Avenue, Ncube’s friend started quarrelling with the man.

“The two started fighting before Ncube picked up a stone intending to hit the man,” said Dlodlo.

He told the court that Ncube missed her target and damaged a DHL window which cost $385.

Ncube was apprehended and taken to Bulawayo Central Police Station.
