MARONDERA-based reggae clique, House of Stone, has made history by launching a riddim carrying a song that was produced using Artificial intelligence (AI).
Named “Love Affaire”, the riddim was produced by Constantine “Danger Ras” Teguru, founder of House of Stone.
In a statement, Teguru urged local producers to embrace technology.
“This ground-breaking release marks a significant milestone in Zimbabwe’s music industry, featuring an eclectic mix of artistes and the pioneering inclusion of a song performed using artificial intelligence (AI).
“Love Affaire also showcases the exceptional co-production skills of Slimslicko from Parables Music, a promising producer collaborating with House of Stone.
“The riddim blends traditional reggae vibes with contemporary influences, creating a rich tapestry of sound that speaks to the heart and soul of reggae music,” he said
Teguru, who mobilised various chanters for this project, expressed his excitement about the project.
“The ‘Love Affaire’ riddim is a celebration of love in all forms.
“It combines traditional reggae rhythms with modern influences, resulting in a unique and captivating sound. This collaboration between talented artistes and cutting-edge technology underscores the creative potential of blending artistry with innovation.
“The inclusion of an AI-performed song is a first for Zimbabwe and highlights the evolving nature of the music industry.”
Some of the artistes featured on the “Love Affaire” riddim include veteran reggae artiste Bobo Calabash, Slimslicko, MC Sensy, Kora, Robling, and Baddest Rasta — all based in Marondera.
Hope Fay Hotel and Conference Centre in Marondera will be used as the place to promote the riddim and reggae culture.
House of Stone Band is one of the consistent groups known for its innovative approach to reggae music.
Over the years, they have collaborated with international reggae legends such as Luciano, Tarrus Riley, Sizzla Kalonji, Capleton, and Lutan Fire.
Locally, they have collaborated with numerous artistes including the late Chiwoniso Maraire, Mic Inity, Trevor Hall, Mannex, the late Soul Jah Love, Sniper Storm, Dino Mudondo, Dadza D, and Josh Meck.
The group has also become popular with the Zimbabwean reggae community.
What makes House of Stone unique is that they do not only play cover versions, but they do have a litany of their compositions.
A nursery of young and raw talent, House of Stone is tipped to surpass the stage reached by Transit Crew.
Transit Crew is renowned for churning out stars that include Mic Inity, Mannex Motsi, Jehfari, and Cello Culture.
And House of Stone seeks to surpass their achievements.
