How Mine sign Rio

IT is official. How Mine have completed the signing of former Warriors midfielder Peter “Rio” Moyo on a one and half year deal which should see him turn out for the club next season.

Paul McAndrew, the How Mine chairman confirmed on Friday that Moyo, an ex-Highlanders player was now officially in their books. He described the player as an asset to the club.

“Rio is ours for next season, the deal was done on Friday, we have signed him for one and half years, he is an asset,’’ said McAndrew.

How Mine coach Kelvin Kaindu described Moyo as a gifted player who should bring a lot to Chikurupati. Asked if that assessment was not based on his time with Highlanders, Kaindu pointed out that Moyo had shown his astuteness at training sessions and he has no doubt of his abilities.

“I have worked with him before, he is an intelligent player and even now he can show that in training. He is training with us,’’ said Kaindu.

Moyo went to How Mine when his deal expired at Witbank Aces in July. It turns out that he was supposed to be registered to play for the gold miners during the second half of the season but the club should have de-registered the injured Mgcini Sibanda with the Premier Soccer League in order for Moyo to play. Sibanda has been sidelined for the whole season by a knee injury picked up during pre-season.

Frustrated that he was not going to play at How Mine, Moyo last month started training with Highlanders. Cosmas Zulu, the Highlanders technical director said the player only trained with Bosso for two weeks before he was told that there was no place for him since the midfield department was already oversubscribed.

The 28-year old Moyo joins Munyaradzi Diya, Milton Ncube, Pasca Manhanga and Sibanda as the players Kaindu has previously worked with at Highlanders who are now with him at How Mine.
