HOW Mine produced a top-drawer performance as they handed Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two League championship chasing CIWU their third loss of the season, winning the encounter played at How Mine compound 2-1 on Saturday.

The gold miners, a developmental outfit for the Premiership side How Mine got the goals that earned them maximum points from Evermore Dambo and Tenda Biki. CIWU’s consolation goal came from Emmanuel Ndlovu.

How Mine’s victory against CIWU saw them stretching their unbeaten run to three games. So impressive have How Mine been that they held third placed Ajax Hotspurs 2-2 in Mpopoma last weekend. Before that away draw, How Mine had beaten Zenzele Tigers 3-2 at home.

The miners have accumulated 34 points from 23 games and are on position seven, six points behind fourth placed Main Line FC.

CIWU went into the game tied on 40 points together with table-toppers Toronto who stuttered and dropped two points against Arenel Movers who held them to a 0-0 draw at Pumula East Garage.

CIWU are now second on the table with 49 points from 22 games and trail Toronto who have played 23 matches by a point.

Kudzi Mhandire, CIWU head coach was disappointed with his team’s weekend result.

“We are very disappointed with this result. We had a chance to go on top but we blew it. We have to put this result behind us and focus on the next game.

“The league has reached an exciting stage and as things stand we are headed for a photo finish,” said Mhandire.

Meanwhile, Main Line were the biggest winners at the weekend cruising to a 4-1 victory over Zenzele Tigers.

Main Line, a Plumtree based club which plays its home games in Figtree got their goals from Zibusiso Sibanda, Crossbee Maphosa, Nhlanhla Nkomo and Delight Sibanda
