Royal Harare will play host to the Golden Pilsner Zimbabwe Open from Thursday next week.
The duo will miss the pre-qualifiers set Chapman Golf Club on the 16th of April and join Ignatius Mketekete, Robson Saurombe, Phillip Tshuma, Peter Banda, Shane Pringle, Tich Musemburi, Anyway Katembenuka, Trainos Muradzikwa, Day Muyambo, Lyford Yadyo, Brian Gondo, Mahammed Mandhu, Micky Hough and Zambia’s Patrick Mwendapole.
Another 10 invites from Zimbabwe Open Committee will be made and they are likely to be dominated by local amateur golfers.
The 10 slots have South Africa’s Anton Haig, who has won his maiden European Tour already.
Last year veteran, Tony Jonhstone, was among the ZOC exempted players.
Most of the amateurs, who are in the top 10 on the order of merit, will be taking part in the 2012 Zone VI tournament during the same week.
The amateurs will leave the country for Malawi on Tuesday and will battle in a tournament that includes countries from East and Southern Africa.
The prize money for the Open was last week reviewed to R1, 25 million with a total sponsorship of R 4 203 705.
Three local golfers Tongoona Charamba, Ryan Cairns and Bruce McDonald are holders of the valid Sunshine Tour cards, which make them eligible for exemption.
The Zimbabwe Open secretary and tournament director, Michael Mahachi, reviewed the final list of the exempted players for this year’s event yesterday.
“The final field of the 2012 Golden Pilsiner Zimbabwe Open has increased to 150 players.
“Twenty golfers will join the field after Tuesday’s pre-qualification at Chapman Golf Club,” Mahachi said.
