Hre City reject Maritzburg offer

ZIMBABWE international defender Blessing Moyo’s bid to join South African Premiership club Maritzburg United has been put on hold after his club Harare City refused the R400 000 transfer fee tabled by the Super Diski side.

Maritzburg United are still determined to get the 22-year-old versatile player on board and are understood to have upped their bid by topping another R100 000.

Sources close to the move indicated yesterday that Moyo had already agreed personal terms with the South African side.

“The player is keen to join Maritburg United, but he can only do so with the blessings of Harare City and for now the ball is in the Harare City court,” said sources.

“They can either turn down the offer and direct that he returns to Harare or they can reach an agreement with the South African club.”

The Sunshine Boys’ management are now expected to decide on the improved offer today.

Harare City secretary-general Mathew Marara said no agreement had been reached yet between the two clubs.

“Blessing Moyo is still a Harare City player. Maritzburg United are interested in the player’s services, but we have not agreed on anything yet.

“On the R100 000 top up, I should say we have not yet received any communication from that club,” said Marara.
