AIR Zimbabwe has announced the launch of daily return flights between Harare and Mutare from September 8 to 14, 2025, in preparation for the upcoming Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel Expo, which will take place from September 10 to 12, 2025 in Mutare.
This initiative is part of Air Zimbabwe’s strategic turnaround efforts to expand its route network and enhance domestic connectivity.
The airline aims to support the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry’s objectives of boosting the sector.
The introduction of these flights is seen as a unique opportunity to highlight the Eastern Highlands, one of Zimbabwe’s most scenic and diverse tourism destinations.
Air Zimbabwe’s chief executive, Mr Edmund Makona, said the airline is committed to facilitating travel and showcasing Zimbabwe’s attractions to the world.
“Air Zimbabwe is more than an airline; we are a bridge that connects people, cultures, and opportunities,” said Makona.
“These Harare-Mutare flights demonstrate our dedication to growth and our belief in Zimbabwe’s tourism potential.”
The flights will provide a convenient travel option for exhibitors, delegates and visitors attending the Expo, while also enabling seamless connections to regional and international destinations via Harare.
“This operation is a pilot project,” Makona added.
“We are testing the market, understanding demand and exploring the long-term viability of this route. If demand is there, we will consider making it a permanent feature of our network.”
Air Zimbabwe has collaborated with the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe, Airports Company of Zimbabwe, National Handling Services and Zimbabwe Tourism Authority to ensure all necessary infrastructure and support services are ready for smooth operations.
For added convenience, the airline has partnered with PayNow to facilitate online payments for pre-booked tickets, allowing customers to secure their travel from anywhere.
The new flights are expected to enhance travel options within Zimbabwe, ultimately contributing to the growth of the national tourism sector.
