A MAN from Nkayi turned into a raging menace and beat another man to death because he could not stomach sharing the affections of a prostitute with the victim.
Nkosilathi Redeemer Sibanda (23) of Malisa Village in Nkayi District appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Jeconia Prince Ncube facing a murder charge.
Prosecutor Mr Tafara Dzimbanhete told the court that the drama started on December 6, 2025, around 9PM at Mazaiwana Sports Bar in Bulawayo’s Magwegwe North suburb, after Mlongiwethu Godknows Dube, who later died, clashed with Keith Dube over a commercial lover.
The argument became too hot for the bar owner, who stepped in like a referee at a boxing match and separated the men before sending them home.
But instead of sleeping off the booze and heartbreak, the deceased allegedly returned for round two at around 4AM accompanied by Melusiwenkosi Ndlovu.
The court heard the pair stormed into Magwegwe North house where Keith was sleeping peacefully, dragged him outside and tried to attack him.
Keith sprinted for dear life and hid in a neighbour’s toilet while screaming for help like a man starring in a horror movie.
That is when Sibanda allegedly entered the scene armed with a knife after hearing the desperate screams.
According to the State, the duo attacked Dube and his accomplice before the two fled in different directions like runners escaping a police raid.
The court heard Sibanda later caught up with Dube, assaulted him and stabbed him on the thigh, leaving him with a deep wound.
Dube was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital where he later died.
The matter continues before the courts.
