A 48-YEAR-OLD man from Bulawayo’s Emganwini suburb died after being struck by an unknown motorist along Nketa Drive in the early hours of Saturday.
Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the incident occurred between 1AM and 0AM on 16 August 2026, opposite Mabutweni Police Camp.
“The now deceased is Johanne Ndlovu, a male adult aged 48 of Emganwini, Bulawayo. He was walking along Nketa Drive when he was hit by a motorist who was travelling in the same direction,”
Inspector Msebele said.
The driver did not stop.
“The motorist did not stop after the accident. As a result, the now deceased sustained injuries all over the body and died on the spot,” she said.
A passerby discovered the body at around 6AM and alerted police.
“We warn motorists that running away, or failing to render assistance to a victim after an accident, is an offence. We also appeal to members of the public who might have any information which may lead to the arrest of the accused person to report at any nearest police station,” Inspector Msebele said.
Ndlovu’s death adds to growing concerns over reckless driving and hit-and-run cases in Bulawayo’s western suburbs.
