Hubby brutally assaults wife

A DAY meant to celebrate love and affection turned into a nightmare for Doris Nyagwaya, of Hobhouse in Mutare, after her husband Thomas Tore (34), brutally assaulted her.

The incident occurred on February 14 around 11am, when Nyagwaya confronted her husband over suspicious text messages on his mobile phone sent by her cousin.

The conversation quickly escalated into a heated argument, and Tore, allegedly overwhelmed by anger and intoxication, turned violent, and gave her a though hiding.

In a shocking display of brutality, Tore assaulted his wife with bare hands, targeting her spinal cord.

Nyagwaya sustained visible physical injuries, although she did not receive any medical attention.

Tore recently appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Lawrence Mubvumbi, facing charges of contravening Section 3(1)(a) as read with Section 4(1) of the Domestic Violence Act (Chapter 5:16), which pertains to physical abuse.

He claimed he acted out of anger.

“I only acted out of anger, as I was drunk.”

However, his defence raised eyebrows as he was questioned on the validity of using intoxication as a justification for violence.

Prosecutor, Mazvita Kadenha presented the State’s case, highlighting the severity of the attack and the harm inflicted upon Doris.

Tore’s fate now lies in the hands of the court, as he awaits judgement for the offence.
