A HARARE woman revealed that her husband divorced her for refusing to have an abortion.
This emerged at the Harare Civil Court where Hazel Murodzi was seeking a protection order against her hubby, Pasimore Matona.
She accused him of evicting her from their matrimonial home when she was pregnant.
Magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted her the protection order.
She said Pasimore instructed her to terminate the pregnancy if she wanted the marriage to work.
But, she refused, and Pasimore chased her away from their matrimonial home.
“Pasimore told me that he was not responsible for the pregnancy.
“He said I should have an abortion if I wanted my marriage, but I refused because I wanted my baby.
“I left my matrimonial home after Pasimore tried to assault me using an iron rod, and I ran for my life.”
She claimed Pasimore once assaulted her with a broom, resulting in a hand injury.
Pasimore denied the allegations and said Hazel was the one who decided to leave their matrimonial home.
“She must learn to tell the truth all the time.
“How can she stand here and accuse me of such a thing?
“She was cheating on me and what I know is that she brought me here because of her selfish reasons,” Pasimore said.
