A city man was arraigned before the courts for assaulting his eight-month pregnant wife over $15.

Philip Makazhu (40) pleaded guilty to Physical Abuse charges when he appeared before Mbare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma.

Makazhu was remanded to today for sentence.

Makazhu’s wife, Florence Chataika said she had been assaulted after she had taken groceries that Makazhu intended to give his girlfriend.

“He was angry with me because I took some groceries he wanted to give his girlfriend.

“When I returned from work he had packed all our property and my $15.

“So when I asked him where he had taken our property that is when he assaulted me all over my body.

“He did not even consider that I am heavily pregnant,” she said.

The prosecutor Ms Mirirai Mavema alleged that on May 5 Makazhu assaulted Chataika all over her body after she had asked him where he had put their property and her $15.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Makazhu’s arrest.
