Hubby kills wife, blames robbers, but cops find bloody rake!

A MAN from Emganwini suburb in Bulawayo allegedly killed his wife in cold blood — then tried to spin a robbery tale to escape blame. But bloody evidence told a different story!

Blessed Mpofu (29) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube facing a murder charge after the brutal killing of his wife, Shylet Siyabonga (21).

He was not asked to plead and only confirmed his name and charges. He was remanded in custody to 14 April.

The court heard that in the early hours of Sunday, Mpofu dashed to a nearby relative’s house claiming his wife had been attacked by robbers on her way home, at Insukamini area near a ZETDC substation. He told the relative Shylet returned home around 11:30PM, bloodied and unable to speak.

But the cover-up began to crumble.

When police arrived at Mpofu’s home, they found Shylet’s lifeless body lying on the bed — blankets soaked in blood, with spatter on the walls.

Mpofu tried to lead detectives to the “robbery scene” — but there were no signs of an attack.

That’s when police returned to the house — and discovered a bloodstained rake and broom, allegedly used in the savage assault.

The evidence recovered on-site linked the suspect to the murder.
