A COUPLE, on the verge of divorce, has appeared at the Harare Civil Court with the husband making outrageous claims against his estranged wife.
Fani Trust Vimbayi accuses his wife, Ropafadzo Jairos, of locking the toilet door and hiding dinner plates from him.
“We stay with our kids, but we’re in the process of divorcing.
“I no longer have access to the toilet and other rooms. She locked me out.
She insults me in front of our kids and other relatives, making fun of my chronic disease and, when insulting the kids, she refers to my body parts, or gives reference to my mother,” he said.
Ropafadzo, however, said it was the other way round. She said she was granted a protection and maintenance order against Fani.
“I was actually surprised when I saw the summons.
“We haven’t talked since last year when I asked for school fees for our kids and he told me to ask the court.
“I locked the toilet door because the septic tank was full, and he took the stove.
“He lights a fire in our tiled house and the smoke chokes us and I don’t know why he is doing this to us,” she said.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavira dismissed the application and advised the two to approach the Civil General Registry, which deals with property sharing.
“The applicant made bold accusations with no evidence.
“This is clearly a counter application since the other party has a protection order.
“This court has no jurisdiction to share property hence it would be wise to approach the Civil General Registry for that,” the magistrate said.
