FLAMBOYANT Zim Hip-hop artist, Huby Blakes, has been accused of dodging rentals for more than 10 months.
The Mai Vadhikondo (Remix) singer has been staying at Innocent Mutubiki’s flat in the Harare Central Business District for more than two years.
It is claimed Blakes blocked the 71-year-old blind landlord from calling him.
He also blocked the landlord’s relatives from all his social media platforms.
Vongai Chikwatare, who is the landlord’s daughter, revealed they have been looking for Blakes without any success.
His rent arrears are believed to be running into thousands of dollars.
“Huby Blakes stayed at my father’s flat for more than two years, he took him as his own son.
“Unfortunately, he deceived my father for six good months, he just left without paying rent and he blocked my father.
“It’s a shame for a known artist to do such a shameful deed,” she said.
“Every relative of ours is desperately looking for this deceitful man.
“It’s very hard to contact him now because he blocked everyone.
“Even if we try to call, with an unknown number, he doesn’t pick up.
“We don’t know about his whereabouts, we are appealing to the public to help us.
“He owes my father a lot of money and it pains him a lot to just let it go,” said Vongai.
Vongai revealed she reported the case to the police and they were also planning to take the legal route.
“We reported the case to the police and they assured us that they will try their level best to help us.”
Contacted for comment, Blakes said he knew nothing about the issue.
“I don’t know what you are talking about, seriously, I know nothing,” he said.
