Human remains discovered at farm

POLICE in Chipinge are investigating the discovery of human remains without a skull that were discovered at Jacaranda Farm last Friday.A farm worker who was setting up mice traps discovered the remains.

Chipinge District deputy police spokesperson Sergeant Clothing Ncube confirmed the discovery and appealed to members of the public with a missing relative to approach their offices at the district police headquarters.

He said: “Douglas Mhlanga (51), who is a farm worker at Jacaranda Farm in Chipinge, discovered the remains of this unknown person while setting up mice traps. The remains were skeletal with the skull missing.

“From the clothes, it shows that the remains belong to a male adult. No identification particulars were found and investigations are still in progress. We are also kindly appealing for information from members of the public,” he said.

In an unrelated incident, a 19-year-old Chipinge teenager hanged himself after failing to secure employment.

He accused his relatives for his misfortunes.

Sgt Ncube confirmed the incident which happened on October 9 at Luipaaardile in Mushekwa Village under Chief Mutema area.

“The late Aaron Mashava, who was living with his father, Adam Mashava (56), was found hanging from a msasa tree with a rope around his neck. On October 8, Aaron proceeded to Luipaaardile Farm to look for employment but failed to secure it.

“He told his father that it was their relatives behind his misfortunes. On the same day he was found by Innocent Chirangadza (31) of Mirror Plot, hanging from a msasa tree branch. He reported to the police,” said Sgt Ncube.
