Human remains found in Marondera

POLICE in Mashonaland East have launched investigations following the discovery of human remains in Marondera.

The remains were discovered by a resident who was preparing her field opposite Hunyani Gum Plantation.

Allegations are that the woman smelt a strong stench while working in the field and decided to investigate.

Reports are that upon investigations, she discovered the remains, which are suspected to be those of a man.

It is reported that she then immediately made a police report.

Police spokesperson for Mashonaland East, Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi, confirmed the developments.

“After the discovery of these remains, which include the skull, limbs, as well as the backbone, police went on to convey them to Marondera Hospital mortuary for post-mortem,” he said.

“We appeal to anyone with information to visit the nearest police station. We also appeal to those who are missing their relative to visit the police in Marondera for assistance”.

Insp Chazovachiyi said the deceased was wearing black jean trousers and a black t-shirt.

He said no form of identification was found on the person.
