THE African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) has applauded the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs for its active participation in the 2nd Joint Forum of the Special Mechanisms, held in Banjul, The Gambia, from May 5 to 6, 2025.

In a letter addressed to the Ministry, the commission lauded the contribution of Mrs Vimbai Nyemba, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, for her insightful participation as a panellist during the high-level event.

“Mrs Nyemba’s profound knowledge and experience in the subject matter were instrumental in providing valuable perspectives and fostering a deeper understanding of the issues,” the commission said.

“Her interventions helped stimulate engaging discussions and created a conducive environment for knowledge sharing and collaboration among the participants.”

The Joint Forum brought together key human rights experts from across the continent to address pressing human rights concerns and bolster the role of Special Mechanisms in Africa’s human rights system.

The commission thanked Zimbabwe for its “commitment and unwavering partnership in the promotion and protection of human and peoples’ rights in Africa” and reaffirmed its recognition of Zimbabwe’s continuing engagement in continental human rights initiatives.

The communiqué was also copied to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe in Addis Ababa.
