Hundreds at Econet’s Chaka Chaya promo

Sibonginkosi Mpofu, Sunday News Reporter
HUNDREDS of people yesterday thronged the Large City Hall car park in Bulawayo to attend Econet Wireless’ Chaka Chaya Ziyawa KuEcoCash Promotion where lucky customers walked away with prizes at an event that was graced by Zimbabwean music superstars, Winky D and Jah Prayzah.

The Chaka Chaya Ziyawa KuEcocash Promotion has been run by Econet Wireless every year since 2017, with yesterday’s event being one part of a series that will end with a final draw in Harare in August.

The programme’s supervisor, Mr Kalusha Mlilo, said the promotion was exclusive to those that transacted using mobile giant Econet’s mobile money platform, EcoCash.

“It is all about transacting using EcoCash and earning points. To qualify for the draw one is required to transact from as low as RTGS$5. This year’s theme was to transact using EcoCash with at least RTGS$20 to earn a point.

“The promotion runs for three months to allow many people to engage and qualify for the draw at the end of the promotion. This is the first draw and it is for the month of May and we will be moving to Victoria Falls on 7 July before our final draw in Harare,” he said.

During yesterday’s draw five lucky customers walked away with a goat each.

EcoCash head of marketing Mr Gordon Pemba said the names of the winners will be revealed after verification.
