“We had good practice sessions and our team is made up of both experienced and junior players who have seen it all in golf.
“Most players in the amateur team this year have graduated through the junior ranks. We have players who were in the national team at junior level and the experienced amateurs have played at the highest level,” said Hungwe.
Roger Baylis will, as usual, take charge of the team. Last year, Zimbabwe finished fourth behind Kenya, South Africa and Namibia. Ten countries take part in the annual competition.
Clive Nguru is the only surviving member of last year’s team . Last year’s team seemed to be much stronger as it featured Scott Vincent, Narbil Umerji, Dumi Chitengwa, Nyasha Muyambo, Ray Badenhoist, Greg Bentley Clive Nguru and captain Dale Howie.
Hungwe and Bret Godard were the non-travelling reserves.
Meanwhile, Ruwa Golf and Country Club will next week host a fundraising golf tournament for a library.
