A HARARE woman has dragged her husband to court accusing him of domestic violence.
Shylet Chidede sought a protection order against her husband, Edison Sithole, telling the court that he assaults and insults her whenever he is drunk.
“Whenever he comes home drunk, he insults and beats me up, and our kids end up not eating food.
“As we speak, he damaged my phone and he is attempting to evict me from home, accusing me of prostitution. He has even started selling some of our household property,” she said.
Edison denied the allegations and accused his wife of being the aggressor.
“I’m the one being abused here. She slapped me four times and attacked me with a cooking stick.
“I barred her from night duty. We have been together for 14 years and I think she abuses me because I am an orphan. She sold my stuff worth US$1 400 and never gave me anything or accounted for it,” he said.
Magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted the order and advised both parties to live peacefully together.
