The Charambas, Pastor Charles and Olivia are returning to Hwange after a year-long absence and are expected to have another family show in the resort town of Victoria Falls on Sunday, at Chinotimba Stadium. The Nama winning couple is billed to share the stage with a local gospel artist, Blessing “Buju” Nyagwaya.
They are expected to play songs such as Nyika YeZimbabwe, Moria, Nhangemutange and Buruka.
In an interview, one of the organisers of the show, Eusabia Rayire of Eumo promotions said the Hwange show will be held to commemorate Makomo Resources’ two years of operation.
Rayire said the all night shows featuring the three musicians is scheduled to start around 6pm.
Young Igwe will be performing in Hwange soon after sharing the stage with Alick Macheso in Kwekwe.
Many of his followers are waiting to see if the sungura musician, Peter would as he promised earlier this year, release his debut album this week in honour of his late father Tongai who died on 15 October last year. He has been playing mostly his late father’s songs on his shows.
Hwange people are also expected to see Francis Dhaka, popularly known as “Franco Slomo” in action under Sulumani Chimbetu for the first time since he jumped ship from Orchestra Mberikwazvo to Orchestra Dendera Kings early in the year.
Revellers are also expecting to see Sulu in action as he belts out songs that include, Ndomusiya nani, Sadaka and Kusatikwadoka.
He is also expected to play some of his late father’s popular songs like Kumagobo and Dzandipedza mafuta.
Rayire said, “This is a show not to be missed by people of Hwange and Victoria Falls. The stage has been set. Makomo Resources, the second biggest player in the coal mining industry will be turning two and what a way to celebrate by having these great musicians,” she said.
