Twenty provincial winners from the country’s 10 provinces are competing in the finals. The defending champions are Anderson High School from Gweru.
In an interview yesterday, the headmaster of Tsholotsho High School and the head in charge of the competition, Sicelo Dube said all was set for the competition whose intention was to expose musical talent among high school students.
“The competition is an annual event where the best schools in choral music battle it out for the top prize. The show is meant to showcase talent among students in the country. These are the type of competitions where stars of tomorrow are born,” he said.
Dube said there was a prize for the best choir, best dressed choir and best choirmaster.
He said the winning choir will receive $500, with the second getting $450, the third $400, the fourth $350 and the fifth $300.
Dube appealed to the corporate world to support the competition which he said was at the moment sponsored by NASH. He said they were working on a shoestring budget of $6000.
