JOHN Munzabwa, who was tragically trampled to death by a rampaging elephant bull on Thursday, is a former member of the internationally acclaimed Imbube group, Black Umfolosi, it has been established.
Munzabwa (53) was part of the group from 1999 to 2006, according to his younger brother and family spokesperson Lucky.
Black Umfolosi leader Sotsha Moyo, in expressing his shock at the tragic turn of events, described the late Munzabwa as a jovial and hard worker.
“John was quite a talent. We are in total grief, shocked, and still not yet in acceptance that he is surely gone. John was a jovial hard worker,” said Mr Moyo.
While it was previously reported that the late Munzabwa met his fate while on his way to work, it has since emerged that he was attacked while in the line of duty,
“He was not on his way to work; instead, he was at work. The company he works for, Dinson Mine, provides transport for its employees,” said Lucky.
Munzabwa leaves behind a widow, Siphosisile and four children, two boys and two girls.
Mourners are gathered at House Number C7 Lusumbami village Hwange.
