GOALS by midfielder Innocent Mucheneka and red-hot striker Gift Mbweti were enough to leave the self-proclaimed “Doctor” of Zimbabwean football Luke Masomere frantically searching for the right antidote to save his team from the dreaded chop as the coalminers walloped Border Strikers in this exciting Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at the Colliery yesterday.

The Beitbridge side went into the match running short of oxygen to stay alive in this elite league but Hwange were in no mood for favours as coach Mebelo Njekwa was equally under pressure from the restless home fans after the team’s walk on a bad patch of fortunes of late.

The coalminers had a brilliant first half and could have buried the visitors with an avalanche of goals only to miss a glut of chances that came their way.

The talismanic and in-form Mbweti could have drawn first blood with barely a minute into the match after he majestically rose high to connect a curling Wilfred Munorwei cross only for his effort to sail over the bar with by a few inches.
