HWANGE Football Club striker and Castle Lager Premier Soccer League’s leading goal scorer, as well as goalkeeper Nedrick Madeya will have medical assessments this morning to determine their availability for the Highlanders game.
The duo has been inspirational for Premiership returnees Hwange, with Makopa presently being the league’s leading scorer on four goals after six games. Both are former Highlanders players.
Madeya, who returned from injury after missing the 2-0 away defeat to newcomers Simba Bhora, seems to have aggravated his shoulder and back injuries in Hwange’s 1-0 home win against Cranborne Bullets.
Chipangano, on position five with 10 points after playing six games, face unbeaten Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday. Bosso, who have played a game less than their opponents are second on the table with 11 points.
On Monday evening, Hwange painted a gloomy picture of their preparations for the crunch tie against Highlanders when they wrote on their Facebook page that Madeya has been ruled out for the trip to Bulawayo due to a recurring shoulder and back injury.
However, Hwange’s coach Nation Dube yesterday said just like Makopa who picked up a knock after scoring against Cranborne Bullets, the goalkeeper is set for a doctor’s appointment this morning. — @ZililoR
