HWANGE football legend Amos Rendo survived a health scare that had him rushed to Hwange on Tuesday morning for medical tests.
The former Wankie centreback, a two-time Soccer Star of the Year finalist, was discharged after a thorough medical check-up without further health fears.
Hwange Colliery showed that they do not shun their legends by footing the medical bill.
His daughter Debra confirmed that her dad was okay and in high spirits.
“It was an alarm call. On Sunday and Monday morning he felt dizzy and we all got worried. He was quite weak and we felt we needed to rush him to hospital.
Once in Hwange the football club liaised with management and they paid for all the tests that he needed to do. We grateful for the favour and recognition of his legendary status,” said Debra.
She said at Hwange Hospital it was recommended that he takes pills and foods that promote the formation of red blood cells.
Amos now resides at Cross Mabale about 65km east of Hwange town.
During his career Rendo led Hwange to two Castle Cup triumphs in 1970 and 1973. He is regarded among the club’s greatest players.
