One Confederation Cup place is awarded to the team which wins the major cup competition, in this case the Mbada Diamonds Cup, with Dynamos and Motor Action set to play in the final at the National Sports Stadium on November 27.
In the event that DeMbare win the tournament, they are likely to opt to play in the more prestigious Champions League.
Hwange club secretary Burzil Dube said the club was thrilled with the prospects of playing in the African Safari.
“It has always been our wish to fly our flag in Africa and this is the opportunity and we are ready and prepared.
“We would be starting some activities in a week’s time so that we help the company raise funds for the club,” said Dube.
Hwange have made a name as a nursery that has produced some good players who eventually join bigger clubs, including Method Mwanjali, Witness Munkuli, Mailos Phiri and Takesure Chinyama.
The club has a vibrant junior development policy, which means the team rarely buys players from other sides.
Hwange team manager Tennat Chilumba, who is in his second season at the helm of the club, said consistency was paying off for the club.
Last season they finished sixth.
Chilumba is credited with turning Hwange into a big force and reports indicate that he could be wooed by one of the big teams in the Premiership, with Bosso topping the list.
“It has been long since the club performed like this and credit should go to the boys and my colleague, head coach, Nation Dube and the whole technical department.
“We really played well in the second half of the season losing two matches – away to FC Platinum and at home against Highlanders.
“In the first half the team started well but a lot of interference from the executive was affecting us.
“They interfered too much in our work and into player’s issues but after the executive was dropped we began to work peacefully and everyone was happy.
“It is a good motivation for the players to play in Africa and we have a lot of youngsters in our team.
“We will be looking at adding an experienced striker and, at least a midfielder, a playmaker.
“I give credit to veteran Gilbert Zulu has been consistent but we need someone who will support him – a finisher and a goal poacher.
“We also have our feeder club in the Division One, Hwange Juniors, and they finished fifth in their first year and we can look there for more players.
“We will just go for a short break and regroup to start preparations because the matches start in January.
“We want to do well in Africa not to got there and lose in the first round,” said Chilumba.
The club has two Zambian internationals Aaron Katebe and Scott Lombe in their squad.
