CONSTRUCTION of a civil registry block at Hwedza Centre in Mashonaland East Province is now at 98 percent, with a few works still to be completed before its official opening.
The building, which will also accommodate e-passport offices, is located near the new Government complex, which will also house all Government departments at district level.
Construction of these two modern structures is a testimony that the Second Republic walks the talk when it comes to infrastructure development and is well committed to bringing critical services closer to the people.
Currently, Hwedza district residents are travelling to Harare or Marondera for related civil registry services, a scenario which is time-consuming and costly.
In an interview with Zimpapers on Tuesday, the assistant District Development Coordinator for Hwedza, Mr Admire Dhliwayo, commended the Second Republic and President Mnangagwa for all the infrastructure developments taking place across Hwedza.
“The new Registry office in Hwedza district is a game-changer, bringing the much-needed convenience to our residents,” he said.
“No longer will they have to travel long distances to Marondera for identification documents, passports as well as other critical documents.
“The modern infrastructure not only enhances the functionality of the office but also adds to the aesthetic appeal of Hwedza Growth Point.”
He said the developments will give Hwedza Centre a new look and will similarly revamp Hwedza all thanks to the Second Republic.
Mr Dhliwayo also mentioned that the Hwedza-Mushandirapamwe Road upgrade shows that the Second Republic is alive to the fact that good roads stimulate development through investments and an increase in business activities.
He commended the Government for working hard on development issues which are key in the attainment of Vision 2030.
“Coupled with the recent occupation of the new government complex offices and the resumption of work on the Hwedza-Mushandirapamwe Road, it is clear that Hwedza is on an upward trajectory,” he said.
“We commend the efforts of the second republic in driving development and striving towards an upper-middle income economy status, leaving no one and no place behind.”
Besides these flagship projects at the district level, the Government has done a lot of development across Mashonaland East province, which includes dam construction, with Chivhu and Muchekeranwa now functional.
The Government is also constructing Kunzvi Dam in Goromonzi district, which, upon completion, will address water challenges in Harare and other towns.
