Hwedza man arrested for growing 967 cannabis plants; two more arrests in another village and in Mutoko

A 43-year-old man has been arrested in Hwedza after he was found cultivating about 967 plants of mbanje.

The suspect, Munyaradzi Nhemachena, has since appeared in court and was remanded in custody.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest.

“On September 21, 2025, police in Hwedza arrested Munyadzi Nhemachena, aged 43, at Mombe Village, Sadza, in connection with unlawful cultivation of 967 plants of dagga,” he said.

Another suspect, Jeremiah Nzombe, was also arrested at Dovi Village, Sadza, for unlawful cultivation of 26 plants of mbanje.

Meanwhile, Police in Mutoko arrested Wiriranai Katsepete (36) at Dzomba Village, Mudzi, in connection with the unlawful cultivation of eight plants of mbanje.
