SUNGURA sensation, Mark Ngwazi, says haters are creating ghost Facebook accounts in his name to fuel hate between him and other showbiz stakeholders.
The pint-sized singer said he was desperate to clear his name after falling victim to cyber fraud.
He claimed most of the posts, purported to be his on social media, were being generated by strangers.
The Njanja Express boss said he was riled by one of the posts, which has drawn the ire of fans.
In the post, he is believed to have vowed to engage Prophet Passion to bribe radio presenters for him to win the end-of-year-chart shows.
Reads the message:
“I made my decision about Passion Java, ndiye munhu 1 anokwamisa kutenga ma views pa YouTube kuti ndionekweo sendiri kuseri uye pa Radio Zimbabwe Top 50 Zimbinga, anokwanisa kundidhizira zvekare kuti ndipinde pa number 1 zvandakaita 2020 number 1 yaive ya lucky Kumene”.
Reacting to the post, Ngwazi said the message was generated by a ghost account holder purporting to be him.
“To be honest, I don’t know people’s intentions when they post such nasty stuff.
“I don’t know that person who claims to be Mark Ngwazi.
“I’m desperate to clear my name because this person has really divided fans and I am now being considered a lunatic by people,” he said.
The singer, who is riding high with his latest album Nharo Nezvine Nharo, said he was focused on marketing the album.
“As an artist, I have never doubted my talent but there are some things I need to work on, like engagement.
“I’m a peace-loving person, who is ready to engage various stakeholders, including our torch-bearer Baba Sharo, the king of sungura.
“What irks me is that some people want to compare me with him, which is wrong,” he said.
Ngwazi hailed various stakeholders who made his album launch a success. “We are grateful to fans who showed up in numbers and we are grateful to our sponsors.
“Artists turned out in numbers and I couldn’t ask for more,” he said.
Produced by Bothwell Nyamhondera, his humour-laden album carries seven well-knit songs.
These are Gokwe, Hwahwa, Nyaradzo Yababa, Shamwari, Upenyu, Vakadzi and Zvipo.
Beside Nharo Nezvinenharo, Ngwazi boasts of a rich discography. It comprises his 2015 debut album Zvandigumbura, Gudo Muriwo (2017), Charger Yetsono (2018), Mudzimu (2019) and Chamugwedugwedu Chamatindike (2020).
Currently, he is busy working on visuals to complement his audios.
Ngwazi is set to resume lives shows in a fortnight since he is committed to shooting videos.
