I am Mbare win Masango final

Sports Reporter

I Am Mbare Youth Academy beat Socca Malitis of Highfield 5-4 on penalties in the Ethan Masango Memorial final at Chitsere Primary School in Mbare yesterday.

Both sides had been deadlocked 0-0 at full-time.

The match, which was graced by many local football legends, was played before a huge crowd.
It was the second staging of this Memorial tourney, which was part of events to celebrate the short life of Ethan Masango, who died in 2019 following a genetic condition that affected his respiratory system.

A minute of silence was observed in honour of Ethan and Dynamos great George SHaya, who is also late.

Shaya, who died last year, was a former Chitsere Primary School student and rose to become the greatest player to emerge from Mbare.

He was crowned Soccer Star of the Year five times.
