I have unfinished business: Mabhena

OUTGOING Highlanders executive committee member, Wisdom Mabhena believes he has unfinished business at the club hence he is seeking another term in the same position.

He said while he has managed to dutifully discharge some of his assigned duties he feels he needs to entrench them as they have bore positive results.

Mabhena said he had re-established discipline among players during trips, something that had been a pain for the team while he has been overseeing the training of marshals by the police before matches.

“The constitution allows me to seek another term hence my decision to throw my name in the fray. I believe I still have a lot of contribution to make to the club as part of the executive.

I have been engaging other Premier Soccer League teams on the issue of marshals as a way of curbing crowd trouble in all our matches whether home or away, so it is a programme that I would love to see through,” he said.

Mabhena revealed he had played a critical role in the throughput of juniors to the senior team as in previous years few or no junior players were making it to the senior team because no member of the executive was interested in religiously following the young players while he seriously took that duty passing on advice to members of the technical department.

He said he is ready to see more juniors coming up through the ranks as the club re-establishes its culture of grooming juniors and ensuring they grow through the Highlanders system up to the senior team.

Mabhena was elected to the post in 2015 but had earlier served another term as committee member between 2009 and 2012.
