Dendera ace Suluman Chimbetu says he was born to serve the nation and bring joy to millions of Zimbabweans.

The Orchestra Dendera Kings heir made the revelations ahead of the 46th Uhuru celebrations, slated for April 18 at Maphisa Growth Point in Matobo District, Matabeleland South Province.

The event will be held under the theme Zim@46 — Unity and Development Towards Vision 2030. In an interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, the patriotic singer said he was determined to ensure Zimbabweans are well entertained.

“I love my country and nothing will take that away,” Chimbetu said. “Each time I perform at a state function, I feel blessed; it makes me feel responsible and pushes me to do my best for my country.”

The phenomenal rhythm guitarist added that he was determined to make a lasting impression as an entertainer. “As artistes, we have a special calling to make sure that we keep fans entertained. In my case, I love everything that I do and fans will always be my witnesses. I can’t betray my people because I was born to do this. By the way, I am a trained soldier, and that alone must tell you something.” The singer, who has been drawing big crowds in recent weeks, told this publication that he was determined to make an impression at the 46th Uhuru celebrations. “I don’t want to add numbers but to entertain fans in Maphisa,” he added.

With the gala taking place in Matabeleland, all eyes will be on big names from the region: Jeys Marabini, Iyasa and Black Umfolosi!

Other top acts included in the line-up are Chase Skuza, Sandra Ndebele, Andy Muridzo, Dereck Mpofu, Bio Mudhimba, Admire “Chief Hwenje” Sanyanga, Gudoluhle and Friends, Dubia Masters, Bolamba Culture Birds, Zondamuthakathi Dance Group, Zinja Ziyamuluma Mxolisi, and many more.

With such a star-studded line-up, fans are guaranteed a fun-filled night in Maphisa.

In a recent interview, Jeys Marabini — whose real name is Majahawodwa Ndlovu — assured fans he was determined to make them happy.

“We are looking forward to the Uhuru celebrations after being included in this star-studded line-up,” he shared. “This gala is particularly special for us since it will be held at my doorstep. We promise nothing but fireworks, as has become the norm. I urge fans to show up in numbers and celebrate independence with us on this significant occasion.” The lanky performer, whose popularity continues to rise with each passing day, noted that independence is a special occasion that should be cherished by all.

“To be honest, we will be remembering all departed and living heroes and heroines who liberated us from colonial rule. Independence did not come on a silver platter, and we are all cherishing the good things brought to us by the freedom fighters. As it stands, we will always celebrate the good deeds of our heroes.”

He added: “To all the musicians in the line-up, this is the perfect opportunity to honour our heroes through song and dance. I urge them to give it their all and ensure those watching us at home enjoy this moment. We want them to be entertained from the comfort of their homes.”

With the countdown having reached its fever pitch, music fans in Matabeleland South should anticipate a night of fun where Zimbabwe’s iconic figures will be honoured through song and dance. Euphoria has since gripped Maphisa, where preparations are in full swing.

The Government has been improving infrastructure, with the President determined to ensure that no one is left behind.

Serious road rehabilitation is taking place in the area, with the Government holding State functions. Local businesses and vendors are also preparing for an influx of visitors, stocking up on goods and arranging special offers to cater for the crowds. The Uhuru gala is more than a single-night celebration, but the impact of such events stretches beyond the night itself.
