adminIn a statement, ICAZ chief executive Mr Matthew Kunaka said the theme was inspired by the role that ICAZ members played at the height of economic meltdown.
“As our country moved from record levels of hyperinflation experienced in 2004 to 2008 and subsequent change to a multi-currency system in February 2009, most businesses had to start from scratch after losing significant parts of their balance sheet,” he said.
“The contribution by our members in these organisations has resulted in organisations recovering and they are now showing signs of growth. In addition to the recent growth, we believe there will be a positive upturn in business and economic fortunes after the harmonised elections.”
He noted that accountants were operating in a global village which entails them to be competitive to guarantee their survival and growth.
The conference will seek to unpack topical issues such as indigenisation, corporate governance and mining.
Other issues to be tackled include investment and funding, technology and manufacturing through its wide-ranging topics and expert presenters from both local and beyond our borders .
The conference will be addressed by Mr Winston Chitando, the executive chairman of Mimosa Mining, and Mrs Eve Gadzikwa, Standards Association of Zimbabwe director-general and chairperson of the Institute of Directors.
Also in the line-up is the current Integra IBM Zimbabwe managing director, Mr John Buy; renowned motivational speaker Mr Milton Kamwendo and James Benoit, the CEO and executive director of AfrAsia Bank Limited in Mauritius.
“It is to our expectation that the congress will open floodgates of opportunities to organisations given the quality of delegates and the impact the profession has on the national arena,” said Mr Kunaka.
