The Deputy Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Cde Dingumuzi Phuti, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bulilima, on Monday embarked on a two-day tour of schools in Bulilima District, Matabeleland South Province, to assess dilapidated infrastructure.

The tour, which began on Monday morning at Bambadzi Primary School in Bambadzi Ward, concluded on the first day at Muke Primary School in Masendu Ward. On Tuesday, Cde Phuti is scheduled to visit Phumuza Primary School in Natani Ward.

The primary objective of the tour is to engage stakeholders and ensure their full participation in resuscitating infrastructure at schools in the district.

At Bambadzi Primary School, one of the classroom blocks has been without a roof for some time after it was blown away. Additionally, the teachers’ cottages are in a poor state, prompting several educators to transfer to schools with better working conditions.

The tour at Bambadzi Primary School was attended by Bulilima District Schools Inspector Mr. Gobile Gobile, Bulilima District Schools Inspector official Mr. Sibanda, Headman Mbimba, Bambadzi Ward Councillor Mr. Sikhumbuzo Dube, the Bambadzi Primary School School Development Committee (SDC), local traditional leaders, and community leadership.

At Muke Primary School, Chief Masendu, represented by his secretary Mr. Freeman Dube, was in attendance. The school also faces challenges, with one classroom block in need of roofing.

Cde Phuti emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to address the infrastructure challenges, ensuring a conducive learning environment for students and better working conditions for teachers.
