The third term has started and it is time for reaping what you have sown. Some of those seating for public exams are looking at saying goodbye to basic school forever. We always hear from pupils complaining about certain things at their schools. So we asked what you would do if you were in charge for just one day. Here are the changes that are needed in our schools:
If I were the school head for just a day I would change the tools we use for our practical lessons for they have become outdated, I would also change the school furniture especially in the hall because the furniture is no longer enough and old.
Ivy Munyoro, 14, Vainona

In my school I would change the school culture as most people are trying to Westernise the school. In terms of respect, I would change the way children handle this, everyone who is a senior should be addressed as sir or madam. The treatment of the school by other schools will change because people currently find the pupils disrespectful.
Blessing Zinzombe, 19, Ellis Robins School.

As for my school I would make sure that certain hairstyles are allowed like braids. I would also improve the food rationing because the portions are too little, I will also fix the swimming pool now that it is summer.
Alicia Old, 15, Roosevelt.

If I were the school head for just a day I would improve the school grounds because I am a sports person. I would also introduce E-learning at my school.
Anesu Gava, 15

My school is perfect but not perfect enough so if I become the head for just a day I would change the school uniform and opt for pleated skirts and shirts instead. I will also build a cafeteria and students won’t have to eat outside during break time.
Miranda Kahuni, 16, Roosevelt

If I were the school head for just a day I would renovate the school grounds at my school, I would make sure that there will be no harassment of student due to failure to pay school fees.
Rudo Alfaneti, 18, CCOSA

My school is good and I enjoy being there very much, but if I were to change anything it would be the WI-FI, I would improve the WI-FI so that every student would have easy access to the internet.
Nyasha Mary Dimigo, His Mercy Christian College

For my school, infrastructure improvement is greatly needed as well as discipline. Change the school development committee after a designated period to introduce new plans. Appearance of the school itself matters most, I would improve general workers skills and maintenance of the school.
Elton Phiri, 17, Kambuzuma 1 High School.

One thing that seems to be lacking, such as culture, the manner in which the young stars are dressing will be my major concern. Some students are coming to school in miniskirts and you would not know where she would be going. If it is the boys, I would make sure that before attending lessons I would make an inspection to see how they are dressed as most prefer to move around with their pants dropped.
Natasha Hove, 15, Rukodzi High School

If I become the head of my school I would make sure that the infrastructure is completely changed, starting with the library. I would make sure that there is a computer lab since we are moving with technology so that every student at my school is exposed to the modern technology.
Mitchell Nyamhondoro, Corpus College

Improving the environment around my school is the first thing that I would do. Make sure that every student at my school follows the school rules and regulations. Apart from that everything is good for me.
Salisha Amanda Kameza, 16, Roosevelt Girls High.

If I get the chance to become the head I would make sure that every student at the school is exposed to computers as a way of keeping them up to date with modern information. Most of the students of these days are not aware of current issues so giving them the opportunity to be on the internet would keep them aware I would also look in to the manner that they dress both girls and boys.
Edmond Tembani, 18, Howard High School
