THE Lotteries and Gaming Board will tomorrow destroy a batch of illegal gaming machines confiscated during an enforcement blitz targeting unlicensed gaming operators in Beitbridge from January 1 to 3, 2025.

The destruction is being carried out following a court order authorising the disposal of the machines.

In a statement, Lotteries and Gaming Board’s interim secretary Dr Misheck Chingozha, said the move was part of efforts to uphold the integrity of the gaming industry in Zimbabwe.

“This exercise is being carried out in compliance with a court order authorising the disposal of the machines and it reflects the board’s continued commitment to upholding the integrity of the gaming industry in Zimbabwe,” he said.

Dr Chingozha said the exercise was a direct response to illegal gambling operations and sought to deter further violations.

“The destruction event is intended to serve as a bold statement to underscore our zero-tolerance stance on illegal gaming activities,” he said.

The Lotteries and Gaming Board has extended formal invitations to key stakeholders to witness the public destruction of the machines.

The board said the action highlights its strict regulatory approach and reinforces the legal requirement for all operators to be properly licensed.
