CHICKEN Inn forward, Clive Augusto, still believes he can turn the corner.
He is enduring a dreadful goal drought which has seen him scoring just once in this campaign.
Last season, Augusto was the top goal scorer at the Gamecocks, banging in 14 goals, before the second round of the season.
His move to South Africa’s Maritzburg United flopped.
He also failed at CAPS United.
His stay was cut short after he was accused by the club’s leadership of being among the ringleaders of a ploy to abandon their assignment against Cranborne Bullets.
He then rejoined the Gamecocks and doubts have been cast over his consistency since his return from South Africa.
It’s been another low point for the 28-year-old, who is yet to score in his second spell, at Chicken Inn.
The lack of a killer instinct in Antipas’s men, has impacted the clubs’ championship aspirations.
“It’s there for everyone to see that this hasn’t been a good season for me,” said Augusto.
“I think it’s a phase which needs me to keep my head up.
“This is one of the most difficult periods of my career.
“But, it’s too early to lose hope, as strikers, we all go through such times.
“For me to be known out there, I had to work hard and I’m going to do the same to get back on my feet.”
He added:
“We still have seven games to play before the season ends, and it means there’s still room to improve on many aspects of the game.
“I’m going to do my best to help the team to achieve our goal,” he said.
