A LOCAL entrepreneur says the plight of children, who went to school without shoes in Masvingo, inspired her to venture into business.
Thelma Chimbganda, who has since started a “Donate-A-Shoe” campaign, called upon partners to come on board.

“In 2017, while working in Morgenster Masvingo, I would see young children in the morning, going to Coronation Primary School barefoot, during the rainy season.

“Seeing that every morning was very hard for me.
“During that time, I was working for a local university, whose niche was in special needs education.
“I would offer the kids a lift from Stopover to Coronation Primary School but I felt that it wasn’t enough because they were walking in the rain.
“The cold they endured in their little bodies had an impact on their learning and participation in class.
“I decided to start a programme to put shoes on those little feet codenamed Tsoka.”
Chimbganda was upbeat that she would deliver on her mission.
“I still remember my days in Masvingo and the weather conditions I endured with the kids.
“So, no matter the circumstances, Tsoka is here to deliver, tochimhanya,” she said.
The businesswoman said she has a soft spot for children.
“I have worked with disadvantaged women during my university years.
“Therefore, it came naturally for me to try and help those children as it is my desire to work with, and improve the livelihoods of marginalised women, and children,” said Thelma.
