“I’M really pained by the death of Ndoro. It’s unfortunate that we have lost him,” said longtime Chicken Inn marshal and die-hard supporter Meli Douglas Ndlovu as he reflected on the passing of former Gamecocks star Tendai “Fire” Ndoro.

Ndoro, who was Chicken Inn’s first import and export, died on Monday in his Sandton apartment in South Africa at the age of 40.

“We don’t mind that he went to play for other clubs. He played very well. The painful part is he died in a faraway country,” added a visibly dejected Ndlovu.

Ndoro, who lit up the local league by winning the 2013 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Golden Boot and earning a Soccer Star of the Year finalist spot, went on to play for Mpumalanga Black Aces, Ajax Cape Town and Saudi Arabian side Al-Faisaly.

His father, Silas Mukundwa, confirmed that the Nketa 8-raised forward will be buried in Zimbabwe.
Mourners are gathered at the family home, number 1976 Nketa 8, Bulawayo.
