LADIES man Trevor Dongo says he is the king of R&B in Zimbabwe.

His long-awaited single, featuring Takura, will be dropped tomorrow.

It’s Aptly named Love Story Part 1, the single will have accompanying visuals, to be released on the same day.

Speaking to H-Metro, Dongo said a collaboration between him and Takura was always on the cards.

“We are not too different because if you know Takura very well, dating back to the times when he was still with Soul Africa, he has always been a great singer.

“Since he is a versatile artist, it was not too much of a hustle to blend in with the hip hop fraternity. R&B and Hip Hop complement each other perfectly.

“I am the king of R&B in Zimbabwe while Takura is the king of Zim Hip Hop so you can imagine what comes out when two kings collaborate.

“We have been friends for a very long time with Takura since the time when he was still a part of a duo called Soul Africa.

“Over the years, we have been planning to record a collaboration but since we are both perfectionists, we were still looking for something that we can both come up with until we finally got the vibe,” he said.

Dongo, who is popular for releasing love songs, said he enjoys the subject.

Asked what inspired them to work on Love Story Part 1, Dongo said:

“Since we both have so much strength in writing love songs, it was not difficult to come up with this brilliant piece.

“Our fans are supposed to expect the unexpected because the wow factor in this record is mouth-watering, not to mention the catchy melody, which will stick into your head for a long time.”
