I’m willing to learn from Macheso: WeUtonga

but says she still has a lot to learn from her mentor – Macheso.
“I am a self-taught guitarist but I want to learn as much as possible from Macheso whom I think is a genius on bass. It will be an honour for me to end up playing like him. I am one of the few female artistes who sing and at the same time play the bass guitar,” she said.
WeUtonga said although Macheso plays sungura she could still learn a thing or two from him.

“Despite playing different genres, I need to learn his lines and hopefully develop my skills from the way he plays his music,” she pointed.
She encouraged parents to support their children especially girls if they are into music to emulate her.

“Currently, I am the only female in the country who has managed to break through this cut-throat industry.
“Wherever I go to play especially in places with male revellers, they find it unusual for a woman to entertain them, but it must be something usual to them,” she said.
Meanwhile, Macheso vowed to teach her after noting her ability.

“I was very impressed by the way Sister Edith had played and so far I can tell that she is a fast learner. Zvigunwe zvake zvakangwarira chaizvo.
“If we continue to meet, I can have time to take her through the paces since there is need for her to learn something different since women in the past were relegated to marriage issues or dancing queens and never at any time lead a band,” he said.
